I’m trying to incorporate feng shui into my new home. Starting with the bedroom and home office, I’m trying to choose colors to paint the walls. I’m leaning towards bluish-grey walls in the bedroom and lilac walls in the office. Can someone please offer commentary, thoughts, and suggestions? Thanks!

feng shui is a crock, ask 5 different feng shui "experts" and get 5 different answers.

I would like a black and purple bedroom, Black feature wall behind my bed and purple bedding not sure about colour of the rest of the room yet. also mirror bedside tables is this bad feng shui as i know you must not have mirrors reflecting the bed? If i put them further back so they dont reflect the bed woulkd this be ok or maybe i should get glass bedside tables?

I think you should put the glass besides the tables just to be on the safe side, but your room sounds like its going to be awesome so good luck remodeling.

fengshui is compilation of concepts or formulas, that calculate which direction or location is the good energy and how to use that good energy to enhance your wealth or health luck.

there are no simple tips. authentic chinese fengshui is not about put a windchime here, a mirror there and your house is all in harmony.

it’s a long process. first you need to know and study all of the formulas. then calculate the areas/ directions you need to use for the different parts of the house. for example, you already know which areas are good, you put the living room and the bedroom there. the bad areas are left to the toilets and storage rooms. then you also need to cross check this with other formulas. in fengshui it is better if your arrangement/ solution is supported by 2 or more formulas - this makes it even more powerful.

i do not think that there is somebody out there who would want to share these formulas with anybody for free, and i do not think that there is a website that also do this for free. so, the cheapest you can do is get a fengshui professional to do it for you for a fee.

on the other hand, you can always read what most western authors had concocted - their own version of fengshui, in which you only need to clean the room! that is easy, which most western people love to hear - free and easy! then put a windchime here and a mirror there, and everything will be fine.

I read that blue brings creativity and knowledge and pink is more for love and comfort, I’ve also read that pink can help creativity. feng shui is very confusing to me and unfortunately, I don’t have time to take a class or afford a consultant. Any help in this area is greatly appreciated!

Pink walls are OK.

You do not need a class or consultant to tell you what you’ll like.

Apart from Lamcy Plaza/City centre. Not the pricy & classy sort, just normal. Also I need a practitioner who can advise personal fengshui tips…but without too much of grandoise.

Check the classified ads in the local feng shui district. The lower priced shuists will help you.

- plants do not drain people’s energy in the bedroom, but like a fish tank, it is considered as 1 of the elements of fengshui (plants is of wood, while the fish tank is of water). these elements are in their natural state, and they are considered to be powerful. so in the bedroom, their energy can wreck havoc on the energy formation that exist in your bedroom. so in short, they make your life more complicated.
- facing your bed away from the door. simple fengshui stuffs, not really that powerful - meaning, not a significant fengshui thing.
- the flow - there is an energy flow, but not in the physical way or not in what most people think it is. you need to know flying stars method to understand this. or chi distribution, how energies form, react and interact - this is what the flow is about.
- your room being clean, not a fengshui thing.
- again like the plants, mirrors can complicate energy/ your life.

the most important thing to remember in the bedroom is that
1. you need to put the bedroom in an area where there is good energy. this said, in fengshui and in nature, nature is more powerful than man. thus, you cannot just make a space have good luck or good energy. but you can use certain methods to calculate for the energy distribution in your house, and put the bedroom in the area where there is good energy. you adjust to the environment, not the other way around.
2. pick up a book by lillian too, joey yap or eva wong, teaching the basics of 8 mansions method, or the east west method based on your birthdate. if you belong to the east, face your bed towards the east; if west, then you need to face west. this is good just until end of 2010. bec in 2010, annual flying stars/ energy of east and west are both good. so this action would be using 2 methods in 1, this is more powerful than putting your bed away from the door. facing is your feet pointing to the favorable direction when you lie down on your bed.
3. if you know the flying star chart of your house, then use this chart to arrange your bedroom, so for example, there is an accumulation of good energy at the south, then you need your bed to be at the south of the bedroom. (advanced)

is having a patio swing in your bedroom bad for feng shui? the swing looks sort of like this :

but without the top roof.

I guess it would depend upon whom you are funging and shuiing in it…lol..

Seriously though, I think that swing would really throw a bad vibe into your BR.

South could be a good or bad direction depending on the date of birth of the tenants.
